We at PocketTube are committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy applies to our extension available on the following platforms: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.

The information we gather or process is used solely for the core functionality of PocketTube and to improve the quality and security of our service. Your information isn’t and has never been sold to third parties. We do not use your information for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising.

Our Principles

PocketTube has designed this policy to be consistent with the following principles:
- Privacy policies should be human readable and easy to find.
- Data collection, storage, and processing should be simplified as much as possible to enhance security, ensure consistency, and make the practices easy for users to understand.

Your extension data, such as collection lists, collection names and links, image lists, YouTube channel information, and extension settings, may be transferred and stored securely solely to provide PocketTube functionality.

Depending on the features you use, PocketTube may process the following information:

- YouTube subscription information, including channel names, channel IDs and channel URLs;
- Your email address, when you purchase or use a paid PocketTube service;
- PocketTube collection and group information, including collection names and channel links;
- Images and image URLs associated with channels or collections;
- PocketTube extension settings and preferences;
- Information required to synchronize or restore your PocketTube configuration;
- Anonymous or pseudonymous usage information about interactions with PocketTube features; and
- Technical and diagnostic information necessary to maintain, troubleshoot, secure and improve the extension.

PocketTube does not intentionally collect or store your browsing history. PocketTube does not monitor or record the websites that you visit for analytics purposes.

How we use your information

We use the information processed by PocketTube for the following purposes:

- To provide the core functionality of the PocketTube extension;
- To display and organize your YouTube subscriptions;
- To create and manage PocketTube collections and groups;
- To save, synchronize and restore your PocketTube configuration;
- To process and manage PocketTube purchases and subscriptions;
- To provide customer support related to your PocketTube subscription or purchase;
- To maintain, troubleshoot, secure and improve the extension;
- To understand how PocketTube features are used and improve the user experience;
- To respond to support requests; and
- To comply with applicable legal requirements.

We do not use your data for personalized advertising, retargeted advertising, or interest-based advertising.

Email address and payment processing

When you purchase a PocketTube subscription or otherwise use a paid PocketTube service, we may collect your email address for the purpose of processing and managing your purchase.

Your email address is used to:

- Process and manage your PocketTube subscription;
- Associate your purchase with your PocketTube account or subscription;
- Send information related to your purchase, subscription, or payment;
- Provide customer support regarding your purchase or subscription;
- Manage refunds and cancellations; and
- Handle other payment-related requests.

Payment processing is provided by Paddle. When you make a purchase, your email address and other information necessary to process and manage the transaction may be provided to Paddle.

PocketTube does not store or process your complete payment card details. Payment information is handled by Paddle in accordance with Paddle's applicable privacy policy and terms.

We do not use your email address for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising, and we do not sell your email address to third parties.

Data accessible, handling, and storing through WebExtensions API

WebExtension APIs used within the extension have fine-grained permission levels that are enforced by the web browser, restricting the information that our extension has access to within your browser. The PocketTube extension can only access specific information that you have explicitly granted permission for. We cannot and do not track your browsing history.

Additional optional permissions may be requested when you enable specific features. When you enable a feature that requests an optional permission, your web browser will make it clear what permission(s) are being requested. The feature will be accessible once you choose to allow the requested permission(s).

Chrome Storage API

PocketTube uses the chrome.storage API to store extension configuration, settings and other information required for the extension to operate.

Depending on the storage mechanism provided by your browser, this information may be stored locally in your browser or synchronized using the browser's supported storage functionality. Information stored through browser storage is used only to provide PocketTube functionality.

Google Drive API

We use the Google Drive API when Google Drive synchronization functionality is enabled.

We use only the Application Data folder in Google Drive. The Application Data folder is a special folder that is only accessible by the application that created it. Its content is hidden from the user and from other applications.

The Application Data folder is used to store PocketTube data such as collection lists, image lists, channel information and configuration data required to synchronize or restore your PocketTube settings.

PocketTube does not use Google Drive to access your unrelated personal files. Google Drive data is accessed only to provide the synchronization or backup functionality that you have enabled.

Youtube API

We use the YouTube API for reading your YouTube subscription list and other YouTube information necessary to provide PocketTube functionality.

PocketTube does not change, update, publish or delete your YouTube subscription or playlist data through the YouTube API.

We do not use YouTube API data for advertising, advertising profiles, or personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising.

Usage of PocketTube means that you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.

You can revoke YouTube API Client's access via the Google security settings page.

Analytics data

This extension uses Mixpanel, a web analytics service provided by Mixpanel, Inc. (“Mixpanel”).

To improve the content, features and overall experience of the extension, we gather and log data on how our users access and use PocketTube. For example, we may log actions such as clicking on a collection name, opening TV mode, changing an image, changing an extension setting, or using other PocketTube features.

Some of this usage data is sent to Mixpanel. The information sent to Mixpanel is limited to usage and technical information necessary for analytics and product improvement.

We do not intentionally send your YouTube subscription list, collection contents, email address, or personally identifiable account information to Mixpanel for analytics purposes.

We also make use of Mixpanel's IP anonymization feature to prevent your IP address from being associated with your usage data where supported by Mixpanel.

Analytics data is not used by PocketTube for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising.

Do we disclose or share any information to third parties?

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise sell your personal information to third parties.

Some information may be transmitted to third-party services when this is necessary to provide PocketTube functionality, process payments, provide analytics, or operate and maintain the service.

The third-party services used by PocketTube include:

Google / YouTube – used to provide YouTube-related functionality and access information that you authorize through Google's authorization process.

Google Drive – used to store and retrieve PocketTube configuration data in the Google Drive Application Data folder when synchronization is enabled.

Mixpanel – used to collect anonymous or pseudonymous usage and technical information to help us understand how PocketTube is used and improve the extension.

Paddle – used as our payment provider to process PocketTube purchases and subscriptions. Your email address and information necessary to process and manage your transaction may be shared with Paddle.

These third-party services may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms of service.

We do not transfer your data to advertising networks, data brokers, or information resellers. We do not use your data for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising.

Data storage and security

PocketTube takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by the extension.

Information transmitted between PocketTube and external services is transmitted using secure communication protocols such as HTTPS where applicable.

PocketTube limits access to information to what is necessary to provide, maintain, troubleshoot and secure the service.

Data stored through Google Drive is stored using Google's infrastructure and security controls. Data stored through browser storage is subject to the browser's storage and security mechanisms.

Data retention

PocketTube retains information only for as long as necessary to provide the functionality for which it was collected, maintain and improve the extension, or comply with applicable legal requirements.

Your email address and purchase-related information may be retained for as long as necessary to manage your subscription, provide customer support, process refunds or cancellations, resolve disputes, and comply with applicable legal and accounting requirements.

Data stored locally by the extension can be removed by clearing the extension's stored data or uninstalling PocketTube.

If Google Drive synchronization is enabled, PocketTube configuration data may remain in the PocketTube Application Data folder until it is removed or the relevant Google account authorization or data is revoked.

Payment-related information processed by Paddle may be retained by Paddle according to Paddle's applicable data retention policies and legal obligations.

Analytics information may be retained by Mixpanel according to Mixpanel's applicable data retention policies.

Data deletion and your choices

You can control the information available to PocketTube by:

- Revoking Google/YouTube access;
- Disabling optional PocketTube functionality;
- Disabling synchronization features;
- Removing PocketTube's locally stored browser data; or
- Uninstalling the PocketTube extension.

Google API Limited Use

PocketTube's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

PocketTube uses information obtained from Google APIs only to provide or improve user-facing features that are visible and expected as part of the PocketTube functionality.

PocketTube does not sell Google user data.

PocketTube does not use Google user data for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising.

PocketTube does not transfer Google user data to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers.

PocketTube does not use Google user data for purposes unrelated to the functionality of the extension.

Children's privacy

PocketTube is not directed specifically at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children for purposes unrelated to providing the functionality of the extension.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to PocketTube, our data practices, or applicable legal requirements.
